How FireProof Got Started

  • In the beginning...
What do you wish you had done BEFORE you got laid off? That's what we asked more than 200 folks who had been laid off. The stories they told! From their answers, we came up with 5 strategies for you to use to take charge of your own career. So even if you do get laid off, you won't panic, won't worry, won't even miss a beat! We'll be scouring the news - and hope YOU will too - for stories that show how people have managed a job loss (for BETTER or for WORSE), or how situations arise that threaten our jobs, or how our 5 FireProof Strategies really saved the day for someone. We invite your comments too.

Try to live the way we lived 20 years ago... Not much to spend at that time... Cut the trip to restaurants, prepare our own meal. Cut the time we spend on internet connection and television. Don't go to mall except we really-really need to buy something (remember, stick to the shopping list). Take our children to play in the community playground instead of taking them to game arcade. In short, there are many good old ways we can try.

Carville is right. And the whole point of the post is to remind folks of one of the 5 "FireProof" techniques: wise financial management. Over-extended means vulnerable. Stay disciplined and stay in charge.
